Some of the animals that come to Earth Angels Animal Sanctuary are able to be adopted out. But many of them stay as permanent residents due to health reasons or for their protection. The ones we have featured on this page, are some who will always be with EAAS.

Rescue family

Crystals Story: Crystal came when Susinn was Volunteering with the adoptions at Pet Smart in 2000. She was about a year old. She was very timid and whenever she had the opportunity she would run away. She was very malnourished and her skin and coat were very unhealthy. She will be 10 in 2009. Crystal became Little Miss Congeniality, loving anyone who is kind and will give her hugs. She has became secure and has stopped bolting for a way to escape and run in fear.

Kianite and Krystal

Kyanite Story begins here: Kyanite a 4 month old Skipper key came from a puppy mill situation. He was infested with worms and, after negotiating a fee of $350 to get him away from the sellers, was immediately taken to get treatment. The infestation of worms was so bad that Kyanite was not expected to live. He was vomiting up worms, which was very horrifying to see this little puppy go through. He was treated by the vet multiple times with traditional wormers and having a difficult time responding, even when holistic methods of herbs were added to his treatment. Even a Rife Machine was purchased to get ride of the parasites and worms. After several months their treatments began working and so ended months and months of anxiety and fear that Kyanite would not pull through. He will be 10 years old in March of 2009 and has a very chipper little skipper attitude. His diet is Natural Balance Vegetarian Dog Food and cooked Vegetarian Chickens Eggs for Protein. He has been doing very well on this Diet and he is expected to live out his life with Earth Angels Animal Sanctuary

Dog and Friends

Dog's story; he showed up at a neighboring Ranch the last day of a 3 week fire in the Los Padres forest known as the Day Fire in Sept 2006. He was very thin. Obviously he was abandoned and expected to survive on his own. No one wanted to touch him not knowing if he was aggressive or sick. The owners of the ranch called and said they saw him out by the road and thought he was hit, to get someone to go shoot him and put him out of his misery. Mahiwo went out to the road and seen the dog laying next to the road, when he reached the dog it got up and just looked at him. Mahiwo went back and told the other people that the dog was OK not to go shoot it. Which is a general rule when Ranchers come across stray dogs.

Dog started hanging around and so we started checking with all the Ranches in the Valley to see if he belonged to any of them and maybe was disoriented because of the fire. But know one had seen him before. Dog continued to hang around and we started trying to figure out a name he would respond to, his main way of communicating is with his little bobbed tail. The more he liked something the faster it would wag. Any way he was often referred to as that dog and so he chose Dog as his name.

Dog and Mahiwo became the best of friends. They traveled around everywhere. You rarely seen them apart. It became obvious that Dog had come to help Mahiwo , who needed to open his heart.

A few months later he was found almost dead. He had been in a fight with this larger dog who had dragged him through duck muck. Dog was almost dead but he pulled through. We then found that he had a yeast infection in his ear and took him to the vets for treatment. The infection didn't seem to go away. He has taken to Vets in Las Vegas and then to a Naturalistic Vet in Arizona. He ended up back in California and the Vet there put him on predisone. He then returned to Flagstaff to heal.

Dog in Las Vehas

Dog loves to go for rides, but does not like getting out of the vehicles. A sign of a serious abandonment issue. He always know when someone is leaving and tries to go for a ride even with strangers. He is always around helping with healings. His personality is like a cat always laying around, which is a trait of a Chow. The Vets actually believed Dog to be about 70% Chow and maybe Australian Shepard. His tongue was almost totally black. Dog is thought to be 8 years old and has definitely found a home. He is another of Earth Angels Animal Sanctuaries permanent residents, who will live out his life with lots of love.

Dog at Home

Update as of June 21st Dog was diagnosed with a tumor and the recommendation was to put him down. But we opt to wait and allow him as long as possible to be with us. He has a healthy appetite and is actually more active than ever. We are hope full that the vet misdiagnosed and he only has an infected canine. Please keep this in your thoughts and prayers.

June 23, Dog took a turn for the worse, the tumor pushed his front canine out and he became very weak. He could not get up for his daily drive to town. He stopped eating and tried to drink but he could not hold it down. This morning the 25th Dog was so weak. He was taken to Sedona to try and find a healer or person to help him transition with out having to go to the vet to put him asleep. There wasn't much luck in finding help with the exception of one person who helped as she could.

Dog returned to Flagstaff and at 1:45 he was given a shot to easy his pain and suffering. Our hearts and thoughts are with him as he journey's. Dog is and was a success as he touched many lives while with us. He helped in many healings probably being and empass and taken on the dis- eases of others.H was truly loved and he was always happy.

Susinn with Shadow

Shadow and Misty's story They are litter mates who have just turned 4 years old this month. they were about 5 weeks old when Susinns brother Ron wanted her to go with him to rescue a dog from a local kill shelter in Las Vegas. He wanted to get a dog whose time had run out. Susinn wasn't looking to take any cats in at the time because the shelters had a disease that cats contracting. The Cats were having a very high mortality rate in the shelters. Susinn One of the kittens was already sick, but Susinn knew if she got them well, that she could re home them.
